Our story

Mi Casa was born out of a need in the Hispanic/Latino community to receive basic services that uphold the idea that all people are created equal. As this community meets the challenges of life, it is Mi Casa’s mission to provide the strength needed from the programs and services available through Mi Casa.

Many in our community have already done the hardest thing – moving to a new country with a different language and system and all the struggles that brings. We believe in what the poet and writer Sabine Ulibarri wrote, “if you have no relationship with your family or your people, when you laugh you laugh alone, when you cry, you cry alone…you are alone in the world.” We are here to help our community so that we work through the setbacks but also share in the successes together — that no one be alone.

As a CLINIC attorney once said, “I work in this field because I have been blessed with opportunities and advantages that others have not, because I know I cannot forget the sacrifices that have been made on my behalf, and I have a duty to work to ensure that others get the same opportunities.” This reflects the passion that Mi Casa staff runs by in the daily work we do.
